Während bei uns schon einige Counter-Strike-Titel lange Zeit bekannt sind, stecken Valves "Veteranen" in Asien noch in den Kinderschuhen.

Entwickler Valve und Onlinespiele-Anbieter Nexon haben Mitte 2007 Counter-Strike: Online, eine neue Version von Counter-Strike speziell für den asiatischen Markt, angekündigt. Diese neue Version wird nur in Südkorea, China, Taiwan und Japan erscheinen.

Es ist nun ein Trailer zum Spiel veröffentlicht worden. Dieser Trailer wird in Asien für Werbezwecken verwendet, zeigt jedoch leider nicht die Ingame-Grafik.

Unter "mehr lesen" findet ihr nun die Pressemeldung von Valve die, die Entwicklung von Counter-Strike: Online ankündigt.

Das Spiel Counter-Strike: Online ist der erste Counter-Strike-Titel der in Asien vermarktet wird. Das Spiel ähnelt Counter-Strike: Condition Zero und ist somit graphisch nicht wirklich aktuell.

Die "Spielmechanik" ist grundlegend gleich geblieben. Es wurden nur Kleinigkeiten wie die Benutzeroberfläche verändert, zudem wurden neue Charaktermodels eingefügt und das Spiel läuft ohne Steam.

Das Konzept wurde in Asien gut angenommen. Ende 2007 wurde ein erster Beta-Test zur neuen Version gestartet. Es beteiligten sich 170.000 Spieler und testeten drei Tage lang die Beta von Counter-Strike: Online.

Aus dieser Beta-Phase entstanden auch einige Demos, ersichtlich sind Grafik sowie das Spielverhalten und Menuführung.

Bellevue, WA -- July 27, 2007 - Award-winning game and technology studios Valve and Nexon today announce Counter-Strike Online, a new online version of the world's number one first-person multiplayer game that will be tailored for Asia.

Counter-Strike, first released in 1999, is the world's number one first person multiplayer game, generating over seven billion player minutes per month and having sold over nine million retail copies worldwide. Nexon is the Korean-based publisher and developer of blockbuster titles such as MapleStory and KartRider. Valve is the creator of many popular first person games and the Steam online platform for PC games.

Under the terms of the agreement, Nexon will develop and be the exclusive publisher for Counter-Strike Online in South Korea, Japan, China and Taiwan. Lee), and in China and Taiwan through collaboration with local publishers.
